Family History For Beginners

See Family History Research.

An introductory course that shows you how to trace your ancestors. Suitable for those with little or no experience of Family History.

The aim is to give you the skills you need to start researching your family tree and to provide you with support.

You will learn how to work back from what you already know about your family, using web-sites that enable you to trace the births, deaths and marriages of your parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. Using sources such as census returns, voters lists and military and employment records, you will learn how to find more about where and how they lived. You will need access to a computer and the ability to use it to search the internet.

For more details of what the introduction will cover, see the Family History Group website.
